Good to know! Still, a high zoot XTR Ti casette and rear mech. adds about a pound at the rear axle... plus you've got all the chain-line, chain growth, and COG issues. A few years back I would have sworn that gearbox bikes were just around the corner... would be cool to see a 'what ever happened to GBOXX' article

Soderstrom is so styley and smooth, that course seemed to lack some flow in the middle though

I disagree with his NOT for Sam Hill.... 11th is pretty darn good after tearing your shoulder apart and sitting out for the better part of two seasons. When you look at the split times, Sam was 4th on the top section ( the most steep/techy ) of the track. He lost most of his time on the pedal section...
