You are so lost in the sauce. Like 4 different people gave great explanations of how flex stays work and you dismissed every single one, but want a "data driven discussion" when you can't comprehend a literal Microsoft paint diagram. Now you don't like "buzzy undamped coil spring", this is comedy gold. @CascadeComponents Can i formally apologize for this member of the forum and please say come back to discuss things with us Vital users that don't have a crayon missing from the box.

@seanfisseli I think your confusing activation force with the axial compressive stiffness. The 5lbs force will be refering to the force at the wheel required to move the the suspension system i.e. to overcome the spring force. What you describing is the seat stay buckling stiffness and will be order of magnitudes greater that the shock stiffness .

A lot of the harshness etc could be simply going from a Horst link set up to what is now effectively a linkage driven single pivot. Where you therefore are limited on the ability to decouple braking effects from the suspension.

I wonder if you understand how the flex stay works? Maybe you could describe (with a picture?) where you think the flex is occuring. The seat stay is effectively a cantilever beam, the peak strain will be at the end without a pivot i.e. at the axle. Because of this the flex stay really does behave like a revolute joint...

Nah. The flex stay only moves a meaningful amount when the shock compresses. The flex stay can be modelled as a revolute joint with a torsional spring around it. If there is any angle change at that joint the shock will move. I've not checked out the kinematics but my suspicion is that the flex stays are only bending a...

The damping in the shock will still provide the same damping. Rather than looking at individual links and joints, think about what the suspension package is doing - it's providing a spring and damper system between the front triangle and the rear hub. I do feel deleting from the rumours forum undermines the point of having a rumours forum.... There is a big difference between posting and article of leaked images as a industry journalist and some random person posting on a forum.

Peak bending moment occurs at the axle end of the seat stay. This snapping is unrelated to the flex stay if it's happening at the linkage end. Looks like it's a compression failure in the tube that wouldn't be fixed by adding.the bearing. Also given the brake mount location the actual angle change on the flex stay is negligible and...
