They can get a regular job to fund their slopestyle hobby until it pays off for them. You don't have to be broke and living in a van if you don't want to. A friend of mine raced world cup DH and was an electrician in the off season. The dude had tons of money to fund his endeavors on top of what sponsors were supporting him with. It's not unreasonable to think any of the slopestyle guys can be doing the same. With that financial freedom, they can pick and choose which events they want to ride...and not show...

Man...the appearance fee, wanting food & accommodation...those are benefits not even employees can get. Sorry, but this reads as Gen Z bullshit. Don't fly to the OTHER END OF THE WORLD to spin your bike in the air for a few if you don't have your own money, sponsors, contracts, insurance & extradition in order. I feel this is the difference between a competition and a show.. If you sign up for a competition, you know you are spending money in hopes of making money, or at least not losing money.. But, you should also know you can have a bad day and lose money.. Kinda like going to a casino.. Maybe Crankworx can let the riders sell merchandise at the event as a way they can make money? I'm liking this less and less from the riders the more I think about it and the more that comes out. Looks like Crankworx was willing to play ball and met them on most their issues, and for the money one, they even made some adjustments for that. They were trying to lower the center of gravity as much as possible with that one, which they succeeded, that shock is low. My understanding is they worked very hard to keep the poppy feel of the old bike mixed with the VPP style lay out, which usually doesn't work well together. I'll follow up when mine gets here.

I've seen it and it's basically a supernought with less travel (swap drop outs for mullet etc) and some sick paint jobs.

That's funny because I've seen the geo charts and it looks like it fixes a lot of the issues I had with the current bike. Does your friend want to buy my V1 dreadnought?
