27.5 sure as hell shouldn't be dead. I just went from a 2020 Hightower to a 2020 Bronson and I'm having more fun riding than I can remember. I went' 29 exclusively about 5 years ago because it was faster. I didn't realize what I lost! I've fallen in love again with slaying turns and jumping around on the trail. Ideally I'd have both wheel sizes in the shed. They each have their benefits and compromises.

More like...we found a way to build a cpmplete bike that rides just like the top of the line one and made sure to leave off the 50 cents worth of upgrades that we charge $2k extra for. Enjoy basic...for more money than before. But think it's cheaper...cause we marked up the more expensive stuff again.

Out: Companies charging the consumer MORE when all they did was FIX their flawed products by referring to the repaired product as "upgraded". In: Local dealers with consumer facing online ordering screen you can just shop for the stuff you want to buy via the shop's website which then price matches the online mail order companies, the product ships to your dealer and they install it for their normal labor rate without bitching about you buying it online elsewhere.

So much!!! I have a $10,500 bike right now, it's not $7,000 better than a $3,500 bike! Maybe $2,000 better at best. Thinking you need an expensive bike is a result of marketing and 90% of the reviews being of >$8,000 bikes. "CC" frames aren't more fun than "C" frames dammit! Funny you mention the old DH bike, I've been searching for an older Banshee Legend which was my last DH bike. I loved it so much...
