I’m running whatever is shipped with the bike. I’ve not hit a lot of drops to flat or other big impacts with it lately. No bottom out issues. But that o-ring is bordering on full travel. Fork is great as is. I am 220lbs geared up. I like the traction this bike provides. Not long after I got this I moved to the PNw. Lots of roots, some rock gardens. Great dirt!

I think that the 29 Race version has a 160 fork reduced to 150, the others have a 140. The bike travel numbers are 150 for race, 140 for others. But the Fox 36 with Grip2 doesn’t com in 150 so I think it is travel reduced. The 140 forks are Pikes.

That’s a pretty light review. Many of the geo numbers look similar to the Capra 29. And the rear triangle looks almost identical. How does this new Jeffsy compare to the Capra29? I have a Capra 29 and primarily ride it in the high position and built it up pretty light. It is still a lot of bike to pedal up hill and slow speed handling take a lot of body English. Is the Jeffsy a lightweight Capra 29, or is it a different bike all together?

6/14/2018 7:24am Well, enjoy your Tranny! Yeti geo is kind of the opposite of SBG (Transition). Even the new SB100 has longer geo than SB4.5 and SB5.5. I came off of a 5.5 to the Capra 29. All for the geo (and the cost of the YT mad it easier to part with my Yeti investment).

6/12/2018 8:05am I hear you Jeff...I ride a YT Capra with the Franken-train (Shimano shifting, RF cranks, e13 cassette). To me Eagle is for people that want a bigger front ring for racing/sprints. Otherwise not needed. I pointed that out on the Spectral comment because Eagle is the ONLY drivetrain they offer.

Maybe we’re not supposed to think about things in terms of “too long” or “Medium” or whatever. Maybe we should think about it like sizes/lengths of skis, for example. A long ski for downhill, a short ski for slalom. Pick the one that corresponds to how you ride, and don’t get too hung up on what the size is called.

I'd also like to see comments on Spec weakness or disadvantage. Like this Bike was a great climber, but the only one with Eagle, or this is the only bike with Shimano Brakes, etc... you did this a bit for tires, but not other components. Also, could we have you rank which is the best "race" bike, and which is the "fun" bike you'd ride with your friends/casual? Most people don't race and I think would benefit from getting your perspective here.

Great job on the review, this is one of the best I've ever seen. Despite the calls for using the same tires the times were still very close. Comments about how fatigued you got on the run and how confident you feel on the bike are great. Frame suspension data is also appreciated. Stiffness and tracking are also really important to me, I see some mention but imo this metric deserves it's own parameter. Frame build quality is also important but not fully apparent just from looking at the frame, the type of carbon used, impact resistance, etc. was a...
