I personally will never buy more than 1 bike again. I've had an aggressive hardtail (130 front end), trail (140/140), and DH (200/208) bike all at once and i found myself only riding the DH bike at the bike park, and the hardtail when I had that nostalgic feeling of learning how to ride back in the day. So first...

I have a new 2015 CAPRA AL. I would say one of the better bikes and saves you a large chunk of cash. Only downside is the wait time, but it was well worth it. Check them out and Aluminum doesn't crack :D

I'm not sure if you have bought a bike yet, but the Diamondback's Hook or Line is a great starting bike. I have the higher end Sync'r and love it to death. Beasty hardtail for sure.

I was looking for the same kind of bicycle and this is what I determined that I am going to be getting. Check it out if you'd like. They have 3 variations of the bike (Hook, Line, Sync'r) and are more expensive as they progress. Hopefully that one of them could be in your budget if you like it.

Hey everyone, So I am currently looking into buying the new 2015 Diamondback Sync'r 27.5 and it looks to me as it could be a great starting point to learning how to ride downhill. It has 120mm travel and the slacked geometry of a downhill as well as gear ration 1x10 so its pretty nice. Diamondback's description of the bike...
