Your weight whinge doesn't add up. One of the only issues with 1x11 is top speed. I think this is more about be able to run a bigger ring up front, rather than an easier climbing gear. There are a load of advantages to using 1x11 (or 1x10) over 2x whatever. I use a guide up front too, as no system is 100% reliable. At the end of the day, you don't have to buy it. No one does.

I want a wider crank axel, by maybe 20-30mm. I tend not to ride fully on my pedals (flats), so I think a wider Q factor would suit me and make me use all my pedal. That means I could go with a wider rear axel (154?) and use a 20mm up front, which could be wider. I'm wide-ish, so...

I'm sorry to say that Dirt has gone right down hill. It's sad about the mag, but their website has six main articles on the front page and one of them is 3 weeks old! Pink bike has nearly 30 and the oldest is 4 days. Vital has about 20 and the oldest is 3 days. It's a poor effort. I only find 2-3 articles of any worth in mag these days. I think it might soon be the end for them. Such a shame.

Baggies are only baggy as they get longer. If you wear short shorts like me, that show 5 inches of skin between the top of my knee pad to the hem of the shorts, you don't get wind flap. The other technique I use is to wear my body armour on the outside of my TLD race jersey, thus reducing wind flap again. Easy when you know how.

It's great that Bryson bryson is on here replying to some of the comments. I wish more people involved in the manufacture of peoducta piped up when 'comment people' start to speculate about new stuff they haven't even laid eyes on. I don't want people muzzled, but it's great to get constructive replies.

Glad you've got Maxxis on here. I've just had a bead fail on their top of the range Hi Roller 2 27.5. I've mailed them to see if I have any warranty, but they aren't responding. There is loads of tread left, so it's not wear and tear in my opinion. These tyres cost £50 in the UK. It shouldn't fail before the tread wears, surely? Interested in peoples thoughts
