I've been mountain biking since 1995 as a result of my high school teacher's inspirations. I raced downhill as a junior, and competed at the Worlds in 1998. I am getting back into competing after taking a break from it in 2001. I enjoy riding my bike on the North Shore, DH riding and racing, and hitting the skate parks. I would also like to progress my skills on the dirt jumps this year.

I am grateful to represent North Shore Bike Shop and MuddBunnies.com this year.

MTB softgoods or even safety gears company should hire her to inspire a line of women specific goods. Imagine, those art works being applied to helmets, gloves and bags... I would buy for my wife.

That was awesome! I used to ride really competitively when I was younger, but as soon as I moved out from my parents place, I just couldn't afford it anymore; I get that. Awesome to see Micayla work so hard to follow what she loves. Farozm... I totally agree with you, if she made women specific goods with that more edgy graphics... I'd totally buy it.

I've been sporting this rig for the beginning of this year's DH season and must say it is a marked improvement over the traditional pressure suit! I appreciate that it is neck brace compatible. I concur with the comment on the shoulder pads, but after crashing on the shoulder and sliding a bit (side impact), they stayed in place. The back does get hot and sweaty, but I run a tank top underneath, so no salmon back! My only qualm with this protection is that it is a pain to get out of. I'd love to see a zipper introduced...

That's kind of the point. It's not a piece of kit that's trying to compete with the full pressure suits.

Thanks for the official review as well as the reviews in the comments. This is something I've been contemplating for awhile. I find there is a limited amount of "minimalist" upper body protection. Has anyone tried the Bluegrass Grizzly?
