I'm mainly trying to make the point that when presented as scientific it should be held to scientific standards. As far as identifying whether one fork is faster than the other, it is possible to do so and Dave may have actually met the threshold with the full 30 runs, which is why I asked for the data.

As long as we are being scientific you should share the data from your full 30 runs because the data from the selected 10 does not show a significant difference between the single and dual crown forks. In fact, there is a stronger correlation between the date and the time than the fork and the time (times get lower later in the test). Of course with only 5 runs each, we have very little statistical power. We might see something more compelling with the full 30... // end pedantic rant //

I build it for the bikepark. I've always been a fan of simplicity and for what I'm doing with this bike I don't need either so I thought it would be cleaner, simpler, lighter and more original without them. Also the cockpit is a dream without all those levers.

Do you know if the NCS trail is the same used for the NORBA NCS? I raced the NORBA NCS for a couple of years and watching videos of NCS it really doesn't seem like the same thing. The jump off that concrete thing isn't there and it doesn't come out to the old finish in the same place.

Man that trail was so fun! True story- as a 16yr old jr DH shredder back in the day I helped build the course with HB & Chad Cheney. I shaped all the jumps and drops and was the guinea pig jumping everything! It was so cool to see all of the famous WC guys ride what I built and I even towed some female pros into the drops and road gap early in the week before practice started. It seems like forever ago now

I agree with Tyler and Jeff that the "tool not a teacher" approach is not optimal for the average rider, and probably not as good for the 'experts' as many would like to think. The problem lies in part with the vast number of combinations of settings available and the interactions between those settings. The software here also doesn't seem to integrate performance against a primary outcome (e.g. faster times). Even if it did you end up with the problem where it becomes very challenging to perform the number of trials required to find the optimal settings. That doesn't mean...
