I'd go with any 4-piston brake that's cheap but isn't the lowest end model. Like a Sram DB8, Codes (stealth or older lever style), Shimano SLX. Per a recent review on here I grabbed a sram db8 for 60$ and slapped that on my dj. More then enough power and it comes on smooth so I don’t head slap when saving myself from looping out of a manual.

Kona uses SAMOX 3-piece chromoly cranks Pivot uses SAMOX 2 piece alloy crank with chromoly pedal insert.
