It is a standard TTX22M, but custom size to fit the stumpy. I don't think the aftermarket TTX universal is available in the correct length and stroke.

I haven't ridden this bike with an air shock, only with the TTX coil. Bottoming out is never an issue. I rarely touch the settings on the shock as the base settings are pretty much perfect everywhere.

Well, I rarely feel that this bike limits be on the descents. Putting a 150/160 fork to slacken it would push the limits further. If you want the ultimate TRAIL bike that can also handle the rough stuff, get a stumpy. If you want a bike primarily for the descents but still want to ride some ups and flats, get an enduro.

This shock is unfortunately not available for retail sale at this point. In fact, I am not sure what spring rate or preload I run (Ohlins sorted all that out), and it is limited to the springs you can use due to clearance at the upper shock mount (which is even tighter on the 2016 stumpy). Nonetheless, coil on Stumpy's are precisely as you say: the money.

The ratio isn't "garbage," it's just less progressive than some other designs in the same genre that happen to be great for a coil/Push setup. Yeah, it's a little high on the leverage rate, but nothing a good shock can't handle. It's not 2004 anymore. The Yeti SB6c, Orbea Rallon, BH Lynx 6, Ibis Mojo HD3, Satna Cruz Bronson, Transition Patrol, Orange Alpine, and several others have comparable overall progression rates. As far as trickle down to other bike brands, we're already seeing it with the Ohlins coil, and suspect we'll see the same with the air shock in time...

Any trail can be ridden in so many ways. Up, down, crusing, flat out, skidding, drifting, wheelie, hucking. All ways are good ways. Simply put - just have fun with it.

The definitive all mountain race. Mind blowing scenery. Long, hard, exposed descents. The people. The weather. Even though it is more about the adventure, we are all there to race the clock. Racing in the best possible way; flat out - fully blind. No words, pictures or film can truly describe the spirit of Trans-Provence. Nonetheless, this is a short glimpse into some of the best trails that where raced in 2015. So much carnage, so much fun. Don't forget to sign up in 2016!

I got the shock from Ohlins, so you won't be able to purchase it though your LBS or anywhere else unfortunately. Maybe in the future!

It is a regular TTX shock just like the Enduro, just "custom" in the sense that it is shorter to fit the 135mm Stumpjumper. Also running Cane Creek springs since the original yellow Öhlins spring do not fit in the frame. Completely transforms the bike, it is a weapon with the coil shock!

Mountain biking in Romsdalen, or as we like to call it; Alpine Biking from summit to fjord, is truly something special. Sometimes you have to push your bike to the top of a mountain, but the reward is both the view to the fjords and the surrounding mountains, as well as a spectacular descent on a narrow single track. In Romsdalen we have some of the wildest mountains combined with the fjords and the Atlantic ocean in the West.
