Johan_Norberg Added a comment about feature Why Are E-Bikes Such a Touchy Subject in the U.S.?

11/13/2017 3:00am
ebikes sure do cause some stir. Having both ridden (on trails), sold and wrenched on them my conclusion is that they are just that, a mtb. The whole "motor" discussion is from people that havent tried one, especially the more expensive ones are really gradual in their assist. That is what they are pedal assist, which only really benefits a bit on flat trerrain and a lot on the ups. The only added "trail erosion" would come from more runs made nothng else. They cant dig in like motos, not even in your wildest fantasy would you put them on...

Johan_Norberg Added a comment about feature Can MTB Spy Shots Hurt the Consumer in the Long Run?

11/2/2017 12:31am
Hurt the cosumer? More like help the consumer, the more the companies know about each other the more competetive they will be which will always in some shape or form be a gain for us. Plus any hype or exposure is good for a company, it reafirms their position in our mind and pushes out another. And come on, you take a bike to crankworx, paint it in a way that ISS can see it and complain about "spy shots"? Personally I dont think I want to buy a bike from a company that stupid and entrust them with my...

Johan_Norberg Added a reply to XL and XXL bikes in Downhill?

3/30/2017 1:55am
Very interesting topic, in my circle of riding buddies I have been spearheading the longer bike for dh for a good 5 years now. I got the first gen carbon V10 in XL while being 6ft and everyone thought I was half mad. When everyone sat on it they just couldnt belive how long it felt, felt was the right...

Johan_Norberg Added a comment about video Do Flat Pedals Win Medals? | Clips Vs. Flats

Well how many Champs medals or WC overalls did they get between them (besides Sam), do they cover Minnarr and Vouilloz together? Nope. Sure some make a few nice hits when they get on a roll but even from that list a few ditched the flats for clips. Are flats viable to contend with, absolutely but clips make you able to ride far more consistently at the cost of a very small time defecit. Overall, flats is higher variance in your riding, clips is less. And flats only really offer an advantage when it gets really nasty and you know...

sometimes I just love living in Sweden, would be so extremly rare to shit like this go down. In any type of sport or event. In this case here the timing officials would just have kept the start hut clear and shouting for the next rider. If you even tried entering from the front they would stop you and make you go around. I do have to say its kind of strange that he even went through the front without asking and it still not acceptable to be late to your start time. But still no reason to get hammered...

Johan_Norberg Added a reply to Body Armor Air Bags?

12/25/2015 12:56am
Looking at Mayers crash I think the added thickness added a pretty big lever for his neck to swing over. His head just whips back so hard at impact its more scary than just landing on his back. On a ski hill you almost always land on a smooth surface so a standard back protector should be more than plenty...
Shifting while coasting is a good thing agreed but I dont know about doing it like this though. I've thought about the same solution but having a constant spinning chain seems like it could be a problem. If its reasonably priced I would def try it out
