Iposted a Vital MTB forum thread in May of 2014 asking " Why are flat tires something we still see these days?" Some riders were plagued by the typical race-robbing issues of pinch flats at the first two World Cup DH events. "We have $10,000 bikes but we can't keep air in the tires if they're hit just right?" I was frustrated and I'm not even a racer getting hosed or a team sponsor watching tens of thousands of dollars go down the drain on a single race effort. Lo and behold, industry-leading tire designer and tester, Frank Stacy, was...

Vital is killing it. Comparing this article to counterparts on other websites, this is just so much better. Loving the multimedia aspect. Seeing the trails discussed in detail in the review is sick.

Salespunk Liked a comment about Feature Beware, It's Getting Weird Out There

Ah the good old days before the internet. Now everyone can find people online who are also into having sex with other people in animal costumes (I once stayed in a hotel that was hosting a Fuzzy convention a few years ago). But I digress. Once upon a time all we needed was one bike. I could race XC or DH on my Manitou hardtail and I wasn't some weirdo in a class of one. Then we started talking about the dream of having a quiver of bikes. That started XC vs DH when DH had 4" of beautiful rubber...

contact patch gets wider but shorter. Not 100% convinced having a shorter contact patch is better as the top pros are still on fairly narrow rims (under 35mm) and tires (2.3 to 2.5).

I said the area of the contact patch is the same given the same air pressure and weight. The shape of the contact patch will change but not the area.

the contact patch is going to be the same (area wise) no matter what tires or wheels you use. Contact patch is based on weight and pressure. Only the shape is going to change.

(V)aniac Liked a product review Better wheels out there for the money...

Granted I'm 6' 1" tall, weigh about 200lbs and wail on and load my wheels on some pretty technical trails, I still think the wheels should have performed much better. I've had the wheels for about 5 months and have had many challenges with the hub, the spoke tension and the outer rim. ------------------------------------------------- FREE HUB: ------------------------------------------------- These wheels have inspired me to buy and build my own wheels again. The 3 pawl and 27t engagement isn't enough and typical of lesser quality hubs/wheels. This roomy engagement can have an effect on technical climbs and has a slippy feel all...
