I commented about this on their IG post of the new HT, something like “its 2022 stop mismatching the suspension, and they said “a shock is a shock and a fork is a fork, no reason not to”. Santa Cruz can absolutely suck canal water.

RS has the exclusive patent on sag markings on the shock stanchion, which is extra helpful on the lower link-driven VPP bikes. With the shaft of the shock mostly concealed in the shock tunnel of the new Santa Cruz frames, it's really hard to measure sag with a ruler.

VPP has historically been very difficult on the rear shock bushings. They might be all RS spec because of the cartridge bearing eyelet???

Both of these reply's make sense (though I'm sure Fox, et al., would be fine additions with some extra detail to setup). It doesn't make a lot of sense to not equip any of the models with RS fork (save for the lowest build kit). Again, I'm sure it rides great as the review implies, but I can't think of any other company, big or little that does the same (prove me wrong haha).

Do we know why SC refuses to use almost any other shock other than RS? I've never really been a fan of not matching f/r sus components and have read reviews of bikes missing the mark when they mix. I'm not saying its good or bad but the last several years I've never gotten an explanation.

This has been nice to see everyone's opinion on the MX setup. I was riding 27.5 for the past 5 years, then moved on to the full 29er and I've been happy with the change (I'm 5'8.75" almoooost 5'9"). I'm currently on a medium 2021 Arktos 150/135 that is compatible to be MX. After reading this, I kind of want...
