DHsteeze Added a comment about photo WINNING BIKE - Loris Vergier's Trek Session

The benefits in shifting performance and lack of resistance at the cranks far out weigh the 0.001% chance of that happening. Especially with how dialed a world champs driveline is that's never really a concern.

Flow trails are sick if done right. They must be well designed and actually flow right though otherwise they do become repetitive and lame. Tech is always sick as well. The key is to have a good combo of the two.

DHsteeze Added a reply to Coil Shock + Trail Bike

For me it's pretty simple, if you don't mind the lack of spring rate adjustment then the performance advantages of a coil far out weigh the negatives. Better performance on long runs, better overall feeling and it's just cooler. So really how I see it is once you get your spring rate dialed it's strictly better. Also weight never matters.

Man kinda looks like a knock off of the #terraplaneDH design applied to a trail bike.

Never EVER use aluminum nipples for any wheel build ever. As a professional ,mechanic I will tell you that alu nipples are one of the worst inventions in the bike industry. They ALWAYS eventually round out and eventually break while truing. They can't handle actually being adjusted. Brass nipples are the only way to go if you actually want your wheels to last.

Having rode shimano DX pedals for many years I've recently switched to HT X2 DH pedals and I've found that I actually much prefer the non-rotating clip. This is probably just personal preference but I love how the clip is in the same spot every time I go to clip in. The slight movement on the DX is annoying now that I've ridden without it. Also I think that unclipping is slightly easier without that movement.

After my experience with KS, NO WAY would I purchase a bike that locked me into their dropper! 3 rebuilds in just over a year. Switch to PNW Cascade. Happy after 6 rides, hope for good stuff long term.
