Danimal5-0 Added a comment about video Why Does Curtis Keene Prefer Coil Suspension? Vital B-Sides

This industry is so damn funny. Spesh is doing some brilliant marketing with these "testing" sessions. Anything for a little bit of exclusivity right? Coil suspension feels better....no shit. Every air suspension product I have ever ridden feels like garbage when compared with a properly sprung coil unit. Why is this news?

From the perspective of a shop employee, going to Interbike used to mean getting to see and try all of the newly developed product coming out. Over the last ten years, most of the big players have realized that the patrons of the big show have been slowly steering toward events like Outerbike, where they can grab a bike, and...

Danimal5-0 Added a comment about feature First Look: Hope Technology Crank

The trilobial polygon interface was good enough for wwII tanks, and its good enough for me. It is pretty much the shit, i've had my LG1 off and on at least a hundred times and it still has an audible pop when the crank arm is pulled. It does require more material at the taper than a splined interface making the spindle heavier, but oh well.

I would be interested to know what kind off b.b. they use. Not compatible with any other b.b., IE: KING? The E13 cranks use the same size spindle and their b.b. is an f ing joke, lasting about five rides before the bearings start binding. E13 has been good to me, replacing the b.b. at no cost each time I call, but I just want to be able to run a BB that will last. What bearings do they run on?

Love that drivetrain, built for the real world of mountain biking, where low gears matter. How is that Avy damper? I've been thinking about one for my 55ti. Does it live up to the reputation?

Just got a new 55 ti rc3, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has played with the damper setup to get more compliance on the compression stroke. I love the fork and am totally enamored with it, but I had to dial the compression all the way out to get the best feel and I would like to have...

Ride as high as the snow level will allow. Dread and terror is pretty much the shit if it is clear, call the Glide ranger station to check for trail conditions. Dear leap would be cool too, some high speed descending for sure. The rest of it is all good too, take what you can get, but the trip is...

F the fixie, get a kickback 2speed! They are super fun and very functional. Plus, do you really want to be tightening your cog and lock ring every four days? Fixes are for oval tracks.....'nuff said.

Eula ridge trail, Hardesty mountain, tire mountain, moon point, Alpine of course, and upper north fork willamette river trail. If you have time you should drive a bit and do north umpqua river or mackenzie river trails....both are epic, mac is 27mi, North umpqua is 75mi. Go get it.
And that little o-ring is supposed to hold the air back in the event that the tube suffers a pinch? I'm totally baffled by this concept. I tried tubeless on some stans flow wheels, and could not find a tire that would hold on. UST tires, 2ply dh tires, TCS, from all kinds of brands. After enough ruined rides, and...

I love Kona's tendency to stick to heavier and longer lasting frames, hardware, bearings and controls. But the press fit b.b. is a deviation from this trend that I cannot get behind. Honestly, how much weight do b.b. threads add? Not enough to justify the risk of them working loose under a 230lb bike crusher who wants a trail bike that will hold together for more than a season. PF BB's are not better, just cheaper to make. They do come loose in some cases, it is not a myth. As for the spindly hangers? They hold up fine, but...
