These were made by Yeti alongside Yeti DH6s and were mostly differentiated by their paintworks. The Schwinns came with either red and gold or this rarer bassboat blue paintjob. They came with Lawwill rear ends and special pullshocks that back then were also used by a few other brands like GT with their Lobos. The Easton tubing on these were unfortunately pretty prone to cracks and this one also has a small crack in its headtube. So this one is retired to the workshop wall!

This was my dream bike back in the day.  In late 1998 I managed to buy a Yeti DH-6 on clearance from my LBS (long time Schwinn dealer that could also get Yetis).  I still have that bike although not much is original.  Besides cracking the headtubes were really prone to ovalizing, but that is true of many frames from that era.  I "fixed" mine using a King Steelset cup on the bottom. 
There are differences between the 97 and 98 Straight 6 models.  The 97 was bass boat blue and came with Hope C2 brakes.  Really early ones came with the Judy DHO as shown with this bike. Late 97s had a Boxxer. The 98 was the gold/red colors and came with Hayes brakes. The Yeti version didn't really change between 97 and 98 version and came with Hope brakes.  All were also sold as frame kits so there were a lot of variations in builds. 
I loved riding my DH-6 as a trail bike since it can run an E-type front derailleur. The suspension design climbs really well over rough terrain when seated.  The geometry was pretty normal for the era but really woke up after I installed a 180mm travel Boxxer, which slackened it out and lengthened the wheelbase a bit.  Part of me would love to get that bike working again except the 26.8mm seat post essentially precludes running a dropper and I'm addicted to the dropper posts on my modern bikes.
