When you say downhill, but not the gravity kind do you mean trail riding? And short travel bikes that will be more geared for dirt jumping will be a lot more expensive compared to bmx, so as PhluffheadPhanner said look towards the used spectrum.

I would say keep looking man. As much as I love them, a bighit is not something you'll probably want to be trail riding on. The spec on the mongoose is probably closer to what you looking for I would just say try and find a bike with a better suspension. Sounds like you would like a Specialized SX trail...

haha i couldnt agree more the SX Trail kicks ass you can downhill freeride or trail ride, thats the bike i ride man and i love Specialized full suspension bikes, but if you think youll be riding uphill more than downhill look at the Pitch or Enduro deff lighter weight but durable as hell still

haha nice, i love local because there's nothing like being on good terms with the local shop to help you out when you need it and bringing in a mail order bike for them to assemble isnt exactly a great start hahaaha

I am loving this frame but that's a good point by deadatbirth 9"x3" rear shock? Fox doesn't even make an aftermarker shock in that size.
