I am pretty sure the rear triangles had the same clearance up until the delivery of the 650b Makulu. I dont have much clearance at all on my 650b convert, and am currently running 2.4" Kenda Honey Badgers with no issues. I was trying to source a 650b rear end, but I am upgrading and handing my Makulu off to my eldest in a few months

I am really liking this.......I am currently on a 2012 Makulu and while it is an awesome bike, have been looking to upgrade to be at least on par with the competition when I race. Now I know that you can put 27.5" wheels on it, I am thinking this is a better option for a cash strapped racer like me right now as I cant justify dropping 6-7k on a new race rig. I not long got my rig sorted just the way I like it (altough need new brakes, my avids exploded so now running SLX's as that all I had spare). Maybe I can look at a new set of wheels and an angleset.........thanks for proving this can be done to an oldr Makulu!

Of course Sam Hill can still win at WC DH, what sort of stupid question is that? Just to prove how stupid of a question it is, he will qualify for the Mount Saint Anne Worlds and spank every other rider like a gimp during the Sydney Mardi Gras whilst he is mounted on a Shawn Palmer replica M1 with cracked head tube, V Brakes and flat tyres.......while riding the bike facing backwards and doing a shoey!
