Comment on the trail centres is spot on - USA needs this concept realized like yesterday. I didn't get it either until I visited Coed Y Brenin in Wales. The trail centre is like a "gateway" for people - it brings complete newbies into the sport by providing a safe and, more importantly, easy way to get into the sport (bike rentals, food, bathrooms, and trails all in one spot). And then it provides another gateway to take beginner bikers to the next level by providing solid demo bikes, better gear, more challenging trails, and skills areas.

Completely agree with Stiksandstones here. I don't think it's the right product for me right now, but maybe when I'm 75 and want to keep up with my sons? Or what if I go down this year with a rough injury, but want to keep on the bike as part of the recovery process - I could see this being a nice compromise. Sure - it isn't the PURE form of MTB that most of us have known, but I think there's a place in the world for it. I have also read a lot of the comments about "what...

Man, I see it as a re-birth for some. Take my boss for example, Troy Lee. The dude loves mountain biking, A LOT. But almost 2 years ago he had a horrific motocross crash and shattered his hip. He has been recovering ever since and MTB for him while still one of his greatest pleasures, is tougher, and he has to cut his rides short because of the pain that arises in his hips from mashing pedals up the hills in Laguna where he rides. I think a bike like this is a game changer for him, because it will...

How does the Canfield suspension compare/contrast to Santa Cruz VPP?

Awesome series, and appreciate the hard truth statement from Transition folks. The stem statement is, in my short experience, spot on, and I'm glad someone's not afraid to call a spade a spade. Nothing wrong with XC, but different tools for different problems. Would love to see more of this kind of series/articles. Bikerumor did something similar with suspension a few months back - and as much as I love gear reviews (and do I!) I think articles like this really benefit everyone so much more. Thanks.

Geezus - you online FREE bike content website cannot win. Pinkbike commenters always complain of them not reviewing enough of the overseas brands (Canyon, YT, etc). Anyways - kudos on running a thorough test on this bike. Cool to see coverage for the new tech that's out there, and not really that far out of reach. I mean, one trip to Europe and you can pick one up. Bikecation?
