That bike is super sexy... I can't help but laugh every time I watch the video though. Its the epitome of bike porn.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately my browser didn't offer to translate it like it normally does. The graphs are still interesting though. It's gotten me motivated to start drafting some of my favorite bike's geometries into Solidworks for some data of my own!

I really appreciated the graphical data of leverage curves and axle paths! Was that produced by Yeti? I would really like to see more comparisons like that with other bikes and would be interested to see its correlation to ride characteristics.

Totally rad to see folks from Yeti directly addressing any concerns on this review. You guys rock, I'm currently saving pennies to (re)join the tribe!

We agree completely agree with the comments about the Shimano drivetrain. We updated our spec to the new clutched derailleurs and a double crank on the Race and Pro kits as soon as we could, unfortunately the bike we provided for this test had last years Race kit. The clutch derailleurs are really awesome and a great improvement, rarely if ever is a chain dropped and chain slap is nearly nonexistent. -Nate Espinosa Yeti Cycles

So sorry to hear you have to part with it. I hope you can find someone willing to pay what it's worth! Will you still be showcasing it at sea otter? I was looking forward to checking it out!

pretty much well summed up! But 'negative' marketeering like this smacks of any PR is good PR. RS shouldn't drop to the level of bored actors and sex tapes. While I dont think what RS did is as desperate, and it certainly had a familiar shock factor..................wait what? shocking news? LOOOL sorry.. a moment of clarity there..

Way to go Rock Shox! For those who believe this is bad marketing, take a second to think: Did they make this product memorable? Did it evoke an emotion? Based on the overwhelmingly heated responses to this post I would say, yes. Whether people caught the joke and laughed, or missed it and became outraged, they made a memorable impression on all of us and got people talking about their product. Absolute success by marketing standards!

Awesome, thanks for the info. I thought they might just be a standard carbon fiber (made with just carbon and resin) cut into the shape of rotors, but the special composite they are using sounds pretty promising! While the technology sounds good for MTB I could see these bringing disk brakes closer to being a weight advantage over caliper brakes on road bikes.

How do those rotors hold up? What material are the brake pads? I imagine they wouldn't warp, but what about heat dissipation?

I was thinking the same thing with multi-day bike-packing trips! I think this would provide a lot more consistent power than solar though, especially if you have some decent down hill sections. Clouds and riding direction vs. time of day would play a big part in the solar charging.

Looks like a lot of unsprung weight! Are those flex pivots in TI? Very cool concept and engineering innovation!
