5/1/2026 12:03pm fair enough but it was still a track that hadn't been raced before and needed the riders to break in during race week. the standard used to be that a venue had to host a national level race (don't quote me on that though) ahead of a world cup.

I'm not going to cast too much shade on Hardtail Bro. I will, however, cast plenty on the mixed messaging and policies of WBD/UCI. Their implied goal has been to raise the professionalism and elite nature of the sport. Simultaneously, they've allowed a racer to use a hardtail to compete. This is inconsistent with the way they're supposedly pushing the sport. I also will cast a little shade on our community. We've bemoaned the loss of grassroots accessibility to the World Cups while also bashing hardtail dude, who represents just such grassroots privateerism. Dude managed to navigate the red tape...

5/1/2026 10:07am that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. La Thuile and Lake Placid last year were both unraced tracks. It wasn't an issue at LT but Lake Placid turned into a case like this but 12" of brown pow instead of loose rocks.

5/1/2026 9:03am It’s surprising that there isn’t a regulation. There’s a big section in the rule book for clothing but for bikes it’s basically no drop bars in an MTB race

5/1/2026 8:15am The hard tail just magnifies the situation. Asa, Tyler and the Alran’s shouldn’t have been seeded that far back. When Jackson and Jordan came out of Juniors they were placed just behind the top elites, not sure what’s changed in the rule books.
