I brought up stack because Spots “solution” to evenly weighting the wheels gives a compromised body position, the larger frame sizes have the rider hunched over with too much weight on the hands. Stack AND chainstay length need to increase.
Those drop stems seem awkward. Shouldn’t larger wheels and higher axles predicate longer frames and higher bottom brackets? One manufacturer recently started raising BB for longer/larger frame sizes. What is the ideal BB drop and height for 32” wheel bike frames?
I’ve broken an MT5 lever body by over tightening, that sucked. I think the trick, without using a crow foot torque head, is only tighten until it starts spinning the hose. All the threads are usually just disappeared into the body at that point. Thoughts? Here’s another dumb one, possibly already mentioned above. While installing a front brake caliper with...
The purgatory seems to be between XC and trail, I’m looking for something similar. Maybe Wicked Will, Agressor, Forekaster. Continental needs something between Magnotal and Zynotal.
My Purgatory knobs are peeling off the casing with low mileage, maybe 200 miles mostly dirt roads. Similar to the old Eliminator. Specialized says this: That's part of how our tires wear unfortunately. It is normal and expected.
I have run several versions of Butcher/Eliminators on my Sentinel and Spur. Now I have a Purgatory grid trail t7 on the back of my Spur, paired with the old Butcher grid t7 2.3 on the front. I don’t like the grid casing at all, feels sketchy. I bet an Eliminator grid trail 2.4 would feel way better in the...
Can anyone compare Specialized Grid Trail casing to Conti Enduro casing? Stiffness, puncture protection, feel. How about comparing T7 to Conti Soft, and T9 to Conti Super Soft?
Sorry we posted at the same time, I see your other post now. I think short stroking or over inflating it will make it not match the frame leverage properly. Although they don’t publish the kinematics so who knows.
What’s your plan on sag if you short stroke it? Simply adding a couple psi (to achieve less sag) to the standard stroked shock will accomplish almost the same thing as short stroking and running 30% sag of that shorter stroke. Additionally, with the stroke shortened or running too little sag on properly stroked shock, you won’t be taking advantage...
The Freehub review makes it sound very “poppy” and not stable, super fun probably! Would a coil shock rein it in a little and allow it to track through the rocks better? What’s the size large frame weight without shock?
