The vast majority of DH gear began as moto gear, and over time various features (like leather inner thighs) were stripped in an effort to make them lighter and more directly applicable to DH. We still see those moto roots today in many of the designs. Personally, I can't see going back after wearing the Demo Pro pants. The freedom of movement and ventilation they allow is excellent, though there is of course a tradeoff. Knee pads serve as a more robust/reliable form of protection under the pants, while the pants themselves have a fabric that's durable enough to withstand...

2000 Honda Accord with 221K miles. I had a 3rd bike tray, but it got stolen by a crackhead while I was in the 3D printing shop.

Unless mistaken, I don't think the author was telling the riders what to do or feel. As far as I could tell, he was writing about Redbull and corporate exploitation. In any event (no pun intended) it's often jobs where there's a lot on the line that you have to do what other people tell you--public opinion matters, for better or worse.

fwiw, I found that reply by Steve Romaniuk to be insulting and myopic. "So why are you speaking? You don't get what it means to sacrifice and hang it out for something you truly love." What a foolish thing to say. Many of us put it on the line each and every day--just cos it's not at Rampage doesn't mean it's not valuable. I'd argue that there are TONS of jobs that are way more important than riding your bike around.

If you look at the pulley on the rear derailuer or look at the front chain ring, it looks like the bike has never been ridden.
