The weight is a guess, I don't care much about it, I can flick it around pretty easily. I use it for all mountain adventures, trail riding and Enduro and also communing. It's pretty much a workhorse. I like it this way. I guess the only upgrade I'd like would be even stronger brakes (mt7 or xtr f.e.).
