Interesting video of a rider making his own dropper post. The breakdown of various dropper designs is handy and his experience makes me appreciate what's out there already, especially inexpensive droppers like trans-x etc that work well for a long time.
Looks like a fun project, but I'm curious how much damage that kind of locking mechanism does to the surface of the shaft. Seems like there will be friction in the system and build up of ablated material inside over time. Nice job thinking outside of the box though.
He machined his own stern last year too
