The issue is it sucks.
Hyperbole aside, I’m running an X0 T Type drivetrain and it is surprisingly loud. It feels to me like the clutch on a transmission derailleur is quite weak. I’m used to running a shimano clutch very stiff.
It’s noisy as hell. I’ve already got an Ochain and stfu damper top and bottom but it does nothing to stop the cage from flopping around like an Italian soccer player. I think a lot of the noise comes from it making the cassette engage.
Am I missing something? So many people say T type is quiet.

You sure it's the chain? My Megatower doesn't have TITs in the rear triangle and so the cable housing and brake line were bouncing around in there and making terrible, horrible racket until I wrapped them with soft tubing. It sounded like loose chain but it wasn't.
99% sure. The clutch only has like 2 pounds of resistance. Shimano can be set up with what feels like 15lbs.
There’s no way to change tension eh?
For what it’s worth I’ve had the t type xo derailleur for three years and it has always been loud. The derailleur always seemed loose.
Recently the spring on the hanger failed. Got it replaced and it didn’t help. The derailleur body (plastic) wore out and the clutch spring wouldn’t hold anymore, so no b tension. It was out of srams warranty period but they gave me a discount on a new one. New derailleur same chain slap.
Madrone time.
Unfortunately I have an injury that means I need the button shifting.
It seems like there are a number of people that swear the clutch sucks and lots of people that think it’s amazing.
What variables would factor into a drivetrain being noisey? I’d assume anyone commenting about the noise has done basic silencing tricks. I thinking more like:
Suspension design
Hub design
Riding style
Chainstay shape, positioning (relative to the chain and drivetrain), and wall thickness will also contribute to how loud the clack is when the chain slaps.
