this chart / handbook appears to be the standard stumpy, not the evo
The progressive air can is a separate purchase. Think you might be confused?... HBO is feature built into the shock at the factory, not something you buy aftermarket.
When I bought the shock in January 2023, HBO was not an option on aftermarket super deluxe' s. You could only get the HBO on OEM equipped bikes. That might have changed since then, but I'm certain that was the case back in January.
Yes, that's that's correct about the OEM.
But you said you bought "the HBO and the HV air can" ... You can't "buy the HBO" unless you buy a shock with the HBO in it, which you didn't.
you can upgrade a superdeluxe to HBO with a damper body upgrade (the required HBO needle is pressed in).
I was looking at replacement damper bodies a few days ago actually (in case I managed to get a standard eyelet shock and upgraded it to a bearing eyelet for a different bike), does the damper body P/N include the bearing block or do you have to buy the bearing block separately?
Also, considering the P/N for the MY23 shock is the same as for the older gen (when it doesn't include the HBO), does anything else have to be done to the shock other than the damper body to modify it to an HBO shock (if it didn't have it) or vice versa?
I assumed that to be true, but didn't want to complicate the conversation because this would be an advanced thing and not something someone would order off JensonUSA with their progressive air can. I've not seen pricing or a part number on the HBO damper body, but I would assume it's a good portion of a complete shock (another reason I thought it was very unlikely this was the case in this situation). Is there actually a Rockshox SKU for this part, as I'd be interested in looking at it?
The damper body with the HBO needle? Of course:

Thanks Primoz, that's super interesting. Looked up the part numbers for my shock, and apparently updating the damper body on my 2021 57.5mm Super Deluxe Coil with a bearing assembly to the new HBO damper body is only $122 msrp, plus my labor time. That's not bad at all.
Careful TR that would be mixing generations and not compatible.
one could upgrade a non HBO my23 coil to have HBO with the kit you mentioned…
thanks for the clarification! that's what I was getting at, just did a poor job of explaining
Piggy backing on the thread. Stock fox dps stumpy tune with carbon flex stays are below.
DCXL = Digressive Compression Extra Light
DRXF - Digressive Rebound Extra Firm
CML = Lock Out Light
The off the shelf tune on the super deluxe ultimate rct2 is light compression light rebound. Will the shock provide enough adjustments on hsc, lsc, and rebound to work with the stumpy kinematics? I asked one local shock tuner and he thinks even with a light compression tune stock that the shock will still be too firm.
Also piggybacking...
Which stock RS SDLX Ultimate would you buy for the Stumpy Evo (29)?
Looking at the RS website there are a lot of available comp and rebound tunes to choose from. Also a couple of lockout force choices.
In the end I will try to get the Specialized RX tune for it but maybe not directly.
Cheers!
hi has anyone tried the RS SDLX Ultimate progressive air can?
