Sam always ran a similar set up in his Iron Horse days, but the shifter cable ran along the chainstay on the Sunday. Maybe it's just extra protection against snagging on rocks and chainslap.

A bit disappointed with the effort on this bike... I wasn't expecting another gold version, but this seems to be a pretty big swing in the opposite direction from last year.

PS - congrats on the baby #3 though!
