I actually loved this at first but then spent 4 months in the Alps on it and it was by far the worst season of riding I've ever had. Too short, poor performance. I'll never be sucked into buying a multilink again. Horst for ever now
2004 Rocky Mountain Switch Pro. I had just moved to Tahoe and was psyched to get a big bike that I (thought) could pedal too. How wrong I was.
The bad:
- Swinger 6 way - felt like crap
- Sherman - felt even worse, topped out like nobody's business
- XT brifters - potentially the biggest fail in MTB history
- Original Saint group - heavy as all get-out, this bike was every bit of 45 pounds, pedaled like crap.
I'm sure there's more. What an awful bike. Sold it to a guy who promptly had it stolen off his car. Poor thief, joke was on him.
Yeti SB95 and Evil Following for 2 different reasons.
The Yeti SB95 was the purchase that broke my 1-bike quiver days. It made me wonder which bike suit me best, and I started becoming a bike whore from then on. It was a very good bike. Just too good, and made my trails dull. I switched to a HT to get some challenge and fun back, and then that reminded me that it's hard to beat a FS bike for just letting loose.
The Evil Following showed me how 1 bike could be so polarizing. I tried to see why people raved about it, but even treating it like a DH sled wasn't all that impressive. I let a few people ride it, to see if it wasn't just me. Many said it was alright, but only the guy that took it out for an extended ride where I rode with him on my HT, said it was terrible, especially compared to the 429 Trail. I then noticed that any time I rode it for more than 10 miles, I noticed my knees would start getting inflamed. I think the high pedal kickback and the rearward seating position had something to do with it. I think downsizing was a bad idea. I was right between Sm and Med at 5'7", but the large could fit me too.
Had it for 5 months. I cracked the chainstay but got a new one (RM has good warranty). Just didn't like it that much... Sold it and bought a Trance.
