Always handy for park laps.
The One Up Components EDC Lite is a perfect tool for bike park laps where you don't need things like a chain breaker. It's sole function is to always be there to tighten a loose bolt that would send you coasting back to the bottom of the bike park for your hex keys or torx wrench.
I finally bought one after last week casually pedaling to the top of Ride Kanuga bike park when a guy asked me for a tool. I don't ride with a pack or water at the bike park. Felt awful being as unprepared as he was. That night, VitalMTB posted their new GearClub w/ the tool & knew it was meant to be.
It is literally the simplest thing I've ever installed. Simply back the bolt out of your top cap, leave the top cap on top of your stem as a guide, drop the extra long bolt into your top cap and give a couple whacks with a mallet and it drops your star nut further into the headtube. Pull the extra long bolt out, pop the plastic sleeve in, let the new tapered lock ring bolt drop into the headtube (it won't fall through thanks to the carrier's funnel design). Use a long allen to tighten to included tapered head bolt into your star nut and pop the tool in.
I promise...I stressed hard over that part thinking I'd screw it up. But it was so easy.
The range of allens along w/ the T25 & flathead are all you need when doing laps to snug down loose bits or when you slam, twist your brake under and need to loosen a bolt to rotate it back up.
The only thing it leaves out is a spoke wrench key. One Up should consider making either a tiny notch in the polymer top cap or cutting in a notch on each side of the screwdriver tool (since it is the one tool not seeing heavy torque) for tensioning a loose spoke nipple enough to make it down a lap to the car.
Chose the EDC Lite over the other two variations from OneUp & numerous competitors because I have a multi-tool with all the bells and whistles in my hip pack for bike rides that would require anything more than a roll back down the hill to the car. It's so light, it's not a stresser to have a few duplicate tools on trail rides when I'm carrying my old school multi-tool w/ chain breaker, etc. It just disappears until you need it.
Regret not having gotten it sooner & considering putting one on my DH bike for all of the reasons above.
