Rating:
The Good
Balanced, stable, fast descents, great climbing
The Bad
Tires are fast and light but not good for rocky climbs. More of an XC tire. Going to try the new Dissector's.
Wish it had come with a chain ring bash guard.
Overall Review:

Perfect all mountain bike for Oklahoma gnar.  Handles rock garden climbs and descents like a champ. I take the occasional trips to downhill parks so I wanted something capable for jumping but more suited for everyday rocky terrain with lots of short punchy climbs.   This bike is great for my needs. I know some people hate on the twin loc but I love twin loc for my type of riding.  I definitely use it often when climbing or when I'm in a slow grind section to minimize fork dive between rocks.

Overall Review:

I've just taken delivery of one of these and couldn't find a review of anyone who has actually ridden one.

First and foremost lets get the elephant out into the room. The twinlock......im sure if you test bikes and drive to bike parks then the twinlock makes no sense. But for those of us who live in the real world and have to ride to get off road, often up roads hills, then the lock-out is great.

The next thing is that if you view this as a 29er with 150mm suspension then again it makes little sense as there are better bikes in that sector - i just sold a Santa Cruz LT hightower so i know. What you are actually buying is a very good carbon 29er trail bike with 120/130mm with the ability to go down to a fully locked out hardtail with 2.6 tyres giving you some respite OR a 150mm bomber for the way down. Then it makes perfect sense - 3 bikes in one.

So how does it ride? very well but you have to be a thinking mans MTB'er. To get the best out of the twinlock you have to anticipate the terrain, constantly thinking ahead, that way you maintain the momentum that you have gathered. Use it as a means to bail-out on climbs or to gain some control when you are still in trail-mode hitting big lumps and it lags a bit. But anticipate and it delivers back in spades - making you faster, more efficient and generally enjoying the ride more.

Long-term I'm going to have to adapt the way i ride to fully appreciate it more as I'm so used to sitting on smoother climbs rather than the bikes suspension robbing me of effort when i stand. But i started MTB'ing on a rigid bike (30 years ago) so am used to 'honking' and climbing standing up. And i think with the lock-out and the big volume tyres the bike will be a genuine rocket up climbs. So forget all this steep seat angle nonsense - stand up and climb like a Columbia roadie!.

So first impressions are very good. front tyres changed to a DHF wide, grips are Ergon and the eyelash of a mudguard has been replaced by a proper enduro guard.

The only other item is the integrated twinlock/dropped grip collar. It needs to be independent as my knuckles smash on the twin lever when its engaged. But a small and easy refinement to make. Oh and the saddle - damn it hurts but encourages me to stand i guess.

So all-in-all im loving it so far and cant wait for a dry period so i can really give it some beans.
