Conti Kryptotal Rear

Fast-forward to April 2022, I finally broke down and built up a TR Scout V3 (I should have done this a lot sooner) to replace my Nomad V3. Despite its front/rear center ratio being inferior on paper compared to the Nomad, the Scout is far better balanced in corners. If anything, too tail happy with a staggered tire combo like I used to have to run on the SC, so I started running the same tire (E13 Gen3 V1 MoPo) on both ends. The bike drifts beautifully in loose sweeping turns. Then when I ran out of the E13 tires I hoarded during pandemic supply crisis, I ordered a few more E13 tires, now V2 weighing in at 1150g, unbeknownst to consumers. When I got them and put one in my hand, I thought they sent me DH tires by a mistake. E13 let me down yet again. The LBS got some new Conti tires in stock so I decided to try Kryptotal. Despite my usual riding pressure of 31 psi (plus Cushcore XC), the rear end felt very vague and squirmy pushing into turns. It appears the casing is really supple and soft, I could see it caving in just by pushing its tall edge knob by my thumb. Given glowing reviews I've been seeing on the internet, I reckon the tread pattern works well with stiffer DH/Enduro casing, but this one felt horrible. I've experienced the same issue with Teravail Kessel and Versus (this one squirmed so badly, I once pulled off Danny Mac-esque skidding 180 pumping out of a berm on an asphalt pump track).
My tire saga (Disclaimer: My tire needs are likely very different from yours)
