Has anybody had any experience with the WPS podium piston kit for the Fox GRIP2 VVC? Could only find one post online which didn't go deeply into the difference the piston kit makes.
I'm running the podium piston and custom tune on my 40 which I run on my Tues. My reason for trying it was to increase overall support and remove unwanted harshness on high-speed events (roots and square edge) while providing a better balance/match to my Avalanche Woodie/EXT Arma setup (I swap back and forth). I'm very happy with the outcome. The podium piston achieves what I set out for. It's noticeably more supportive!
How it feels at the handlebars would be as follows: The harder I hit something, for instance, a square edge, it will equal parts "quickly get out of the way" without any harsh feedback at the bars while simultaneously increasing support deeper in the travel. It's also a smoother ride over the small "rubble" on the trail. I get the same sensation at the pedals with my Woodie or Arma.
I would definitely buy it again as I feel the upgrade eliminates, what I feel, are the shortcomings with the Grip2 VVC (Lack of support and inability to flow enough damper fluid causing harshness).

I sent my 40 to Mike Williamson at Aurum Suspension in Montana. He did a great job installing the piston as well as servicing my fork. I also run a Secus and he serviced that as well. Great communication and good turnaround. I would recommend Aurum for sure.

did you inquire at all if Aurum would sell you the kit to self install? personally i'd rather not have to ship my fork to another state when it's something I could install on my own. (should also note the closest authorized reseller to me is in NH).

Good to hear, you're describing the exact issue I've been having. I'll contact a suspension workshop about installing the kit and add a little write-up about it when I've had it installed.

"Can I fit this myself? At present, no. They are only avaialbe through our Approved Fitting Centres, so we can make sure you're getting the right tune and it's all fitted correctly."
I think it's just a quality control thing on their end.

i think part of it is that the grip2 vvc isn't as straightforward to work on as other dampers based on the service documentation i've seen.

Unfortunately, I didn't ask. I knew I wanted someone else to do the work so that wasn't on my radar.
