I'm heading up to Vermont soon for a week and can't decide which bike to bring for the pedal portions of the trip. I'll have my DH rig for Killington but I am between a 140/130 Stumpjumper, and a 170/165 Capra for pedal days. Plan on riding Mount Peg, Sherburne, and Green Mountian Trails.

Might be too late on the recommendation if you've already left for your trip -- but if not I'd say 130/140 Stumpjumper should be ideal as long as you're not running crazy light tires or anything. There are a couple short bits of gnar hidden away in those networks you mention (Devil's Throat and the top bit of Bubba's at GMT; alt-line rock slabs on Charlie's at Peg) but nothing super sustained or chunky. So long as you have decently grippy tires and good brakes (probably running metallic pads given the rain in the forecast) the Stumpy would be pretty nice for all the pumpy, flowy stuff and the meandering climbs.

Have a great trip! If you want any specific trail recs feel free to reply or DM me; I lived just north of that area from 2020-24.
