Has anyone machined off the 'Knock Block' tab? Pretty easy according to my local bike shop. Good results? Worried about breaking for top caps and switches.

Pretty easy to get rid of the knock block. Problem is getting your fork to clear the downtube. You need a special headset cup spacer or similar. It can be done...but the question is "WTF was Trek thinking!?"

"Stiffer downtube"...

Yeah, like every other bike I've ridden that doesn't have this problem I've gone "you know what would really make this ride better? A stiffer downtube!".

Trek - creating problems that don't exist and solving them very poorly...

rode a remedy 9.7.... hit the knock block in switchbacks.

i know a great way to find out if the new down tube is stiffer.

I’m trying to figure out how to make mine engage sooner. I’ve got a Fox 36 that’s hitting the down tube on my remedy
