Hey people im new to this site hope some one can help me out

I'm looking for some new AM / Enduro wheels that can take a beating because I'm a heavy bloke who likes to jump off things.

Been looking at

Easton haven

Mavic crossmax enduro

Spank spike

Halo Chaos Enduro

Any opinions ???I'd especially like some info on the Halo Chaos Enduro because they are a lot cheaper than the rest and I can't find much info.

Hope someone can help CHEERS!!!

I'm usually shocked by the prices of all of these new prebuilt wheel sets. I say pick your favorite sounding hubs in the color you want, pick some nice strong rims and have them built up by the best wheel builder in town. (Ask around a bit to find out who that is in your town.) They'll likely be cheaper and better built than the machine built offerings from those other companies.

I can offer an opinion on two of your choices...the Mavic and the Spank. With limited time on the Mavic, I will say that it's a quality wheel that feels really good, and seems to be able to take a beating. It is however specifically targeted at racing, as such the narrower profile on the rear may or may not be to your liking, and the low spoke count may or may not inspire confidence when you get your huck on.... The new Crossmax XL is without a doubt a more versatile offering from Mavic.
The Spank Spike wheels are still on my bike almost 1 year after receiving them to test. For $500, they offer pretty amazing value. They don't dent quickly, stay true as well as most wheels I've tested, and they feel good too. I've got a bit of a wobble in the rear after one too many sideways landings, but I'm still able to true them up almost completely.

My reference wheel used to be a Halo Freedom rim laced to a Hope Pro 2. Really a bomber set-up, if a bit heavier than the two wheels listed above. But I'd trust that build to go anywhere and do anything...(I rode that build for a few years in different iterations, including riding a half-tacoed wheel for 3 weeks waiting for replacement. Incredible rim...). If you use butted spokes and a good builder, you should be able to end up with a competitive weight and a bombproof wheel too - and there is now a straight-pull version of the Hope hub available for extra bling factor...

Don't miss all the user and pro reviews right here on Vital: http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/category/Wheelsets,44

Spank wheels are consistently rated well by our crew because they're durable, competitive in the weight game, and come at a good price.
