Luke Strobel Wins the U.S. Grand Prix of Mountain Biking Downhill Finals, Leov Secures OverallWashington native and Pivot Bikes pilot, Luke Strobel, earns a downhill racing victory in his backyard. The final stop of the MTBGP took place at Stevens Pass, Washington with a stacked World Cup field. The conditions were unusually dry and loose, which favored an aggressive riding approach, something Strobel is known for. Trek World Racing rider, Justin Leov earned the MTBGP overall victory, despite missing this final race. Leov, who recently announced his retirement from competition, had earned enough points throughout the season to retain the overall victory. Had teammate, Neko Mulally, placed 2nd or better, Leov would not have won the overall. Mulally placed 3rd, only .09 off of 2nd place. |
| Brandon Semenuk Wins the Bearclaw InvitationalTrek slopestyle rider, Brandon Semenuk, continues his reign of terror on the FMB Tour by winning the Bearclaw Invitational on Vancouver Island. On a challenging course with big features Semenuk bested 2nd place Brett Rheeder and 3rd place Martin Soderstrom. With the momentum of multiple FMB wins on his side, Semenuk rolls into Crankworx week with momentum as the Joyride Slopestyle event takes place on August 18, where he will defend his title. |
