2018 SCOTT Nero Plus Helmet, MTB AR & RC Shoes 2

High-tech shoes, helmets and armor from SCOTT.

Scott MTB AR Boa Clip Shoe

This new shoe from Scott looks as though it will suit the needs of an enduro / all-mountain / trail rider quite well. Features include a sticky rubber outsole for grip when you are out of the cleats or on platform-style clipless pedals, a Boa IP1 lacing system, and a durable welded TPU and textile upper. Protection was a focus on this design with pretty stiff toe and heel bumpers. The shoe goes for $179.

The MTB AR shoe is also available in a lace version with a flat pedal interface in the same sticky rubber.

Women aren’t left out either with both Boa Clip and lace flat versions available.

Scott MTB RC Ultimate Carbon Shoe

XC fans and addicts will be pleased with the new Scott shoe designed with input from Nino Schurter. Standout features include the Carbitex fiber enforced welded upper construction. This is a material said to have zero stretch, ensuring that the shoe stays tight over the course of a long ride. It uses a Boa lacing system with two dials and has a very stiff HMX carbon outsole (stiffness index of 10). The sole of the shoe also features minimalist sticky rubber treads for a bit of traction when you’re off the bike. This is a premium product with a $449 price tag.

Scott Vanguard Jacket

The new Scott Vanguard jacket won’t be offered in the U.S. initially but riders in other countries may find this convertible, protective, pocket-filled piece of armor nice for their arsenal. The jacket is hydration compatible, has adjustable and removable D3O shoulder protection, is made from various lightweight fabrics - some that have a good amount of stretch, and has a removable, flexible D3O back protector. On the back of the jacket, you’ll find assorted pockets including a spot for a hydration pack and hose routing, a padded pocket which could be used for a cell phone, and four other large pockets for stashing your goods on a ride.

Scott Nero Plus Full-Face Helmet

The new Scott Nero Plus full-face helmet represents a major improvement for the brand who previously offered the Spartan, a full-face with a very fitting name, void of features that many find necessary these days. The Nero Plus on the other hand is a feature-packed, stylish lid that should suite many riders. The helmet comes with a MIPS protection system, removable and washable pads, now features a padded chin strap with a D-ring closure, and large vents above the brow to encourage good ventilation. We were impressed by the visor's ability to flex which should prevent it from breaking should you crash or augur into the ground. The helmet goes for $219.
