woodlandplayer Added a comment about press release Shimano Releases New MTB Shoe Line

To help make a decision it's a question of what is your main intended purpose. The AM9 is intended to be the DH shoe, but if you are riding aggressive "Enduro" trails where you clip in and out often where ultimate stability is important then the AM9 is a great choice. If you are in the woods and getting off your bike often for logs, large rocks or hike a bike sections the ME7 has more flexible sole and would be my first choice, but its worth noting the latest generation of AM9 shoes do have a more aggressive bottom...

Flipper you are one of my favorite photogs ever and I will surely miss seeing your hugely creative shots. BUT, I totally understand and am stooked to hear your next chapter is with Santa Cruz Bicycles. I hope you do make a few cameos once in awhile in the future. BTW I have a nice Shimano hat for you the next time I see you...

I am sure gearbox development isn't going to stop because of this, but until they are lighter and more affordable this is the hot ticket. I rode it yesterday and was amazed how much nicer my ride was. Chain slap was cut way down and no hints of a chain coming off which is very common in the washed out beat down trails I was riding. Shimano is on it with this gadget! In case it still isn't clear to everyone you only switch it to off when taking your wheel off. You ride in the on position always.

800 Euro per camera operator??? 3 min max for team footage per discipline??? Commercial operators can only film during practice??? This must mean ESPN is coming in and covering events for prime time! Do they think people are making 6 figures selling race videos??? What a joke! 800 Euros...UCI should pay that to anyone willing to come out and shoot...

TRex you point out the number one reason Super D has not caught on like it should. The courses usually suck. Not knowing where you live I would assume it is not near Fontana because if you had come to any of the Super D races this winter that were designed by Eric Carter you would have loved Super D. Downiville is a Super D, a really long Super D albeit, but none the less its a Super D. The only problem with Downieville is it puts too much emphasis on fitness rather than riding skills. I think if it...

Super D is for everyone and could be a real boost for the gravity side of our sport as long as promoters make real Super courses unlike the POS course they run at Sea Otter. Full on downhill bikes are falling by the way side and having events that lets riders use their already existing trail bikes and still have a few thrills on some legit downhill makes it more likely more people will get into racing. These new bikes look like a real good all around bike!
