Or you could put that little plastic disk (that came on the bike) back in. You can find it at the back of the shop in a box with the reflectors. Still, a good idea you have.

I guess if one is afraid rail around a berm. Or is allergic to wearing a helmet they can do this. I'd rather be caught watching synchronized swimming than doing whatever this is.

Can't argue with any of your pics. Each is (in my opinion) well lit, composed, focused. but this one really stands out. I like the way you've used focal length to show the roughness of the course, the way Greg is out of the harsh sun, but the dust and course behind him are highlighted by the sun. etc. Nice one.
