Don't undersell Specialized Chisel Evo. 130/110 bike. I swap between that and my 160/160 sentinel it it handles most everything the sentinel does, just different. I swapped bars and stem to more match the sentinel and give it a slightly slacker feel and running same tire setup on both . Geo feel between the two is surprisingly similar. I was...

Don't get me wrong, as is it's great locally (Charlotte nc) and everything is benign. I have a coiled sentinel that I'll ride primarily in pisgah on the weekends but occasionally the chisel will make the trip to the hills.

The Fox tunes for these bikes are very digressive to optimize for pedaling performance. I actually found that the Rockshox Sid 3 position to be more plush in the open mode than the Epic Evo Fox tune shock. I haven't fully gelled with my Epic 8 Evo but do enjoy pedaling it. Right now I'm waiting to see what the Forbidden Reya looks like but something like that seems better for my needs.

yeah the progressive vs linear was a concern and wasn't sure if anyone got it to "work". I do still blow through the travel currently quite often but I'm pretty much an idiot and ride it like a nincompoop.

I wouldn't recommend it. Extremely short stroke coil shocks leave a lot to be desired. You have to run such a high spring rate to hit a reasonable sag number and not be bottomed out constantly. The progression of an air shock really lends itself to a shorter travel bike, unless that short travel bike has a VERY progressive leverage rate.

Anyone have any luck swapping over to a rear coil? I have a Chisel Evo as my local puttzz around bike and thinking of going coil/coil. Spoke with cane creek and they suggested not running the IL Coil due to the clevis/cletus link that the epic and chisel use. Anyone try this with success?
