Remember Most brands were forced to Order Big numbers in advance if they wanted Bikes - This wouldve been at expectation they could sell them for top dollar, However whether timing was bad, or order was delayed etc could play a major part. This caught out both specilized and Trek, Especially trek - they had a big order in from SRAM/shimano and Frames(giant?) in early 2020, Apparently they upped their order number and they got massively caught out during this time, hence the overlap of the Two fuel Generations. I've been told Trek has recovered well and now just working...

Yeah, shifted the shimano parts from a Norco Fluid that had a shimano drivetrain & praxis cranks. I kept the SRAM cranks & chainring I had (I wanted my 165 cranks) but used the shimano parts. Otherwise yeah I'd be fine with that setup. Honestly the main thing is I wanted to avoid paying for pricey GX cassettes but I love the XO chains.

5/8/2025 11:25am Are you doing this because those are the parts you had? Generally, SLX/XT chainrings are steel. Use an XTR chain and you’d have the same durability with better shifting. SRAM chains are a teeny bit wider.

The battery pin issues mainly affect the GX version due to its battery placement. Water that reaches the pins tends to stay there, causing corrosion. Personally, I'd go for the X0 because of that.

5/5/2025 4:41pm This 100%. I forget what retailer it was but they were running a buy one get the second chain for 50% off. Grabbed two XTR chains immediately and put them on the shelf.

5/5/2025 4:31pm I catch a lot of crap because I’m one of the few in my group still on cables. I run XT/XTR combos on both my bikes. I won’t claim my setups are as consistent as an electronic drivetrain but I’m very good at tuning and maintaining my bikes. My bikes shift smoother and quieter than the AXS setups my friends...
