sixfour Added a reply to Does Unsprung Weight Really Impact MTB Suspension Performance?
12/15/2025 6:06pm In one of those Frameworks bts videos Niko talks about the carbon rear triangle replacing the original allow one. Says he was hoping the lighter weight would help suspension performance but was disappointed that he couldn’t feel a difference. But maybe a heavy cassette would be more noticeable?

6/6/2025 6:53pm Yeah, I think it's worth a try to replace the fluid. Thanks for the input. I should have also said that this is happening on both front and rear brakes, which strengthens the theory I think. Will report back...

6/6/2025 6:47pm in theory, it shouldn't matter but that doesn't mean that everything is sympatico. There is always the chance that a co developed their fluid and seal composition formulas in house and the two are tied together. Lewis doesn't show their fluid on their website, but by color it at least looks like Maxima, same as Sram's. My guess would be that LikeWater's viscosity allows it to creep past the seals. Some components require specific fluid weights for their mechanical properties, and indeed that's one of the reasons semibath oils tend to be heavier. They stick to the slidey bits and...

6/6/2025 11:58am After reading about the new XTR brakes needing low viscosity oil and shimano saying you should NOT use that oil on their older brakes, I'm wondering if I messed up my Lewis LHP's by using likewater low viscosity fluid. I've bled these brakes several times and it seems like what's happening is some oil is leaking out of the master...

6/6/2025 11:51am At the end of the bleed after you close the master cylinder port, you can over fill the caliper a tiny bit by pushing on that syringe while closing off the bleeding edge port. It'll give you less lever throw. Don't overdo it though.

4/12/2024 12:50pm Yeah for some reason you have two bike checks uploaded with the same bike, and I linked the other one to the homepage post...I just added the BOD graphic to that one as well, we'll leave it at that since it has the comment activity on it. Nice ride!!

4/12/2024 6:01am The Trutune works! I also was having trouble getting full travel, which the trutune fixed. Definitely made the fork more linear. I think tight bushings were also affecting things, and since getting them burnished I don't feel the trutune is as necessary. Right now I have it in there with one token, so it's like half a trutune insert.

4/12/2024 5:56am Yeah, I should try the Meaty Paws. The revgrips have been great, though. I had a lot of hand pain before getting them.

4/11/2024 6:05pm Thanks, Vital! Happy to nerd out if anyone has questions or comments. And to address the riser bars, I'm 6'4" and that's the best way to get the grips high enough. If the saddle is at full extension, it's well above the grips, to give an idea of my weird proportions.
