AstonCustoms DJ 1

General Info
I had this bike custom made a few years ago as I think most DJ bikes are too small for adults and people who like a bit of comfort (and their lower back health). Many modern DJ’s are great for younger riders spinning and whipping down the woods, but what if you’re just a bloke who isn’t 15 anymore? Someone who just wants to enjoy some easy pump track laps and flow through the trails once in a while? Then this bike is for you, it’s designed to be easy to ride, comfortable and forgiving. The steel frame simply gives a smoother ride than any alloy construction. I designed a flat plate to connect the chainstay to the BB to allow some flex, and avoided a brace on the seat stays to let things move a little when you case a jump or tag a roller.
The frame geo reflects a traditional XL size with a 465mm reach, but more like an M if compared to modern MTB's in other categories. I think this is fine for any rider from 170cm upto 190cm. The chain stay is also proportionally longer at 440mm. The head angle is slightly slacker than the average DJ bike at 68º and the head tube a bit longer at 115mm. The front has an adjustable travel Manitou fork, tall bar, and plenty of headset spacers to allow setup for a range of rider heights.
This is a unique frame with only one ever being made. It's built with some excellent parts from Hope, Manitou, SQlab and Schwalbe.
