Great pictures and thanks for the update. Still, my question is with big rock strikes..if this system (without UDH) gets bent outta shape - its gonna get expensive. Might even stretch that this direct mount option will be wrecking frames..

..Great rider and pretty nice guy and its cool seeing someone who's not chasing the clock getting a good contract. Also great to see 7Mesh getting more MTBers on board, their gear is the best on the market IMO. Iago seems like a perfect fit for them and he makes people wanna rides bikes.... Honestly this news of him moving...

Great picture of that derailleur and I see from that angle that its flatter and doesn't protrude that much...still - seems like a really stable construction but I if a rocks strikes that, there could be more frame damage than expected..only time will tell I guess.

The new SRAM stuff does pretty rad, but is there any advantage of the whole derailleur being directly mounted to the frame via the direct mount option? More ground clearance? Smoother shifting? Isn't that what the hangers were for..if you strike a rock and just the hanger is bent, you can sometimes salvage the derailleur - and in this case...

I kinda agree with what manny.bike is getting at..I mean Lewis B has our attention now, right? These kind of decisions being made kinda reminds me of a story from a friend that works for a (core)snowboard brand that are highly focused on sustainability, ambassadors and saving the planet and winters kinda thing..they did'nt really relate to the usual crowd...

..If Iago won't tell us what bike he's riding..maybe he'll be so friendly and tell us what fleece jacket he's wearing in this pic??

Give the Vans BMX Shoes a try...by far the best bike shoes I have owned in a while and I have tried 5.10s, Giro and Afton..the Vans Shoes have lasted longer too. For reference my pedals were the Burgtec MK5s and currently the Alu Oneups..the plus is, when the Vans get worn out, they double up as casual kicks...
Thats nonsense... Make them and the bike shop understand what the problem is...the wear and tear has nothing to do with the problem you are facing!! Its a easy option - the shop does want a satisfied customer and you are relying on his expertise to convince Giant. Maybe they are out of frames?
Well, thats sad that Giant won't warranty this. What exactly was the reason for the rufusal? This kind of damage is definately not your fault - the tabs serve a purpose. The least they can do is offer you a crash replacement. How is the communication going? Is this topic still open or did Giant close it?
I worked as a Warranty Tech at Giant Switzerland for roughly 4 years..our Warranties had to go throw the Holland Office.. I have seen many of these cases on the Advanced Models and they customer ALWAYS got new replacement frame - sometimes not the same colour but a new frame. Giant Australia have no reason not to warranty this. Are...

parnifel Added a reply to Will gas prices impact your mountain biking?

I think prices in general will be affecting us all..here in Europe (I live in Switzerland)...due to the war in Ukraine, COVID and other circumstances, things have gotten pretty expensive. The usual weekend getaways, for example Finale Ligure is a 4 hour drive and the gas, shuttle prices have literally sky rocketed - around a 20%-30% increase which makes things...
Hey everyone Hope you guys can share a litte lght or experience on this topic. I currently upgraded my wheelset to a SC Reserve 30 with Hope Pro 4 Hubs ( I used the Boost kit). The Rear wheel due to the spacers did not need redishing and is dead centre!! I am not 100% sure what the chainline is...

Thanks @mtbman99 - that was also an option I was looking into but Shimano Direct Mount Chaintings in 6mm Offset are pretty hard to come by, by removing the spacers I was able to get the CL I need and keep the costs down. After all, i still have some spare Chainrings at home, which are all 3mm offset anyway.
@NoahColorado - thanks for your help suggestions man. Thats exactly what I did this evening, I removed the spacers on the drive side and the CL is significantly better than before, pretty sure I‘ll run this setup for the summer and I think this way there won‘t be as much drivetrain wear and tear. Parts these days aren’t always easy...
Just received an email from Hope's Tech Department..no way around this I'm afraid. The only solution is to remove the drive side crank spacer to move the crank more inward toward the frame. If I do this I will have to go without a chainguide. Happy riding everyone.
@Ceecee, thanks for input regarding this topic. Yes, falling off the 51T cog. The thing is, is if I remove all the spacers from the drive side…it gets really tight for my chainguide. If made some photos so you guys can check out the chainline.
