Thanks to those who have chimed in and/or participated in the poll so far! What this comes down for me is something I can answer in a few simple questions. Does the technology improve the bike riding experience? If so, how much? With respect to electronic shifting, I don't see it. Its a nice to have, its sexy, it shifts well, but I don't find my on bike experience to be any better than a good mechanical system and its more expensive.
