Big fan of bikes. Been riding DH since 2010, racing since 2013. Participated in a few WCs, haven't qualified for any yet but the dream is still alive and I'm working to make it a reality every day.

RPI 2023 graduate with a mechanical engineering BS, very interested in frame and suspension design. Mechanic at Highland on and off since 2017, interned at Cane Creek for 6 months in 2022, worked trail crew at Rock Creek and Kanuga for 6 months in 2023 and helped with some Frameworks testing during that time. Always looking to expand my knowledge of kinematic, geo, spring, damper, and chassis design.

Bringing this thread back I am always pondering what is the best cornering feeling. I have played around with the Linkage program over the year and nerd out on old articles like Pinkbikes "By The Numbers". For me in comes to predictability and what DW has stated in some of his comments that were shared earlier in the thread. Are you measuring chainstay or rear center length? Measuring from the bottom bracket to the rear axle would give you chainstay length, which can be a useful approximation of rear center. I was out shooting the Oceania Champs this weekend which Richie won by 4 seconds and 2nd was Sam Hill. Interesting setup by the looks of things, chainstay is attached to a link that goes through the frame.

Looks like an similar construction as a Athertons bikes, with carbon tubes and alloy/maybe ti junctions. Pretty different thing in Spesh! The linkage I think can be like an Norco with an upper link… just a guess

Heard Reece talking about having a real hard time with vision and the shiny dirt reflecting into his eyes and blinding him. I think the shiny top tube and downtube could have been reflecting some sunlight into his eyes as he was one of the few to be suffering from that issue. I was running clear lenses with a matte frame and I wasn't being blinded, just had a hard time adjusting from light to dark in a few sections (my quali on saturday was about the same light conditions as A practice Friday and Finals today).
