Well, these are two very different categories and one of the things that makes them different is the head angle. So the poll stated like this makes no sense. But you're right, I probably should have used at least 8 question marks to be noticed by Iceman! On my trail bike I've a 66 degree HA. It works fine on...

We'll need bigger wheels to truely take advantage of these bigger rotors.

Eyelets make a rim weaker: you have to drill a bigger hole in the rim. These days, the only reason to use eyelets is to machine lace up a wheel quicker. In the old days eyelets where used to hide that the aluminum used for the rim was inferior! Also welding is not stronger (even weaker), but pinning out of the 3 options makes for the heaviest rim.

Pinned is without glue and where a welded rim cracks, the pinned version might open up. In all cases: the rim will probably be destroyed.

The weld might be strong enough, but just beside the weld the fairly thin walled aluminium gets weaker after welding. If you hit something with the weld, the rim will crack there. With a glued and sleeved rim, the strongest part of the rim is the joint. (planes are glued these days!)

Pinned or sleeved? Sleeved is actually stronger than welding...
