I bought a pair of Maltese Falcons recently to replace my Hematomas and I still like my old shoes better. I am sure once I use the Falcons more I'll like them but the old Adidas are still nice shoes.

Racing BMX is a good stepping stone to MTB riding. I would like to see more kids riding BMX or MTB instead of team sports which are being ruined by bad coaching, politics and even worse parents.

11/27/2011 5:26pm There was a company called Motoped that was selling conversion kits that use 50cc motors combined with Honda CR50 plastic and downhill MTB components. You could either pedal it or start the engine, very similiar to above photos.

What makes anyone think that more DH racers would compete in DS at World Cup events? It seems like racers are so focused on training and preparing for a specific type of racing that they are not willing to risk injury or waste energy to race another event just because its on the weekend schedule. I see pros racing different events at non WC venues like the US Open but there is just too much on the line at WC level.

I dont see the point in forcing professional athletes to wear something they dont want to wear. Look at the NFL, the players are wearing considerably less padding now than ever and the game is faster and harder hitting. In the NHL eye injuries are always at risk but many choose not to wear a clear visor, same with soccer shin pads are smaller and thinner than before. At the pro level in any sport its all about winning and the athletes are willing to take the injury risk to get there.

Even with Graves dominating the racing itself has been pretty awesome this year. The rest of the field is very competitve and should be very exciting next year as Graves moves onto downhill full time. I thought the MSA race was very interesting with some riders running short travel suspension frames something that hasn't been seen in the last few seasons.

Keep in mind this is the only North American venue for WC 4x with Windham dropping the event this year. Makes it tough to travel for one event which hurts participation.

4/14/2011 4:48am That is a bunch of crap. Why no 4x? I too will still go but with one less venue it will leave alot of downtime. Atleast last year there was always some type of racing or practice going on all the time so as a spectator you could spend the whole day at the mountain. Definately disappointing.

2/11/2011 4:51am Unfortunately it seems to have lost its luster. Even Sea Otter dropped it a couple of years ago. Compared to todays BMX racing which has gone to ultra smooth tracks, paved turns and smooth tires 4x is the closest thing to what BMX racing used to be in the very beginning. Unless there is a local 4x series it's tough...

12/26/2010 3:01pm Santa brought my son a Yeti DJ frame with XTR brakes, Fox 32 Float, SLX cranks, Thomson stem and post. I plan on building the rest of the bike over winter.

Gotta love those short crank arms. Spinning and spinning and going nowhere. I like the guy who is sooo fast he needs a parachute but not a helmet.
